
US ambassador to NATO says NATO and Russia 'committed to dialogue' ahead of talks Wednesday

The US ambassador to NATO Julianne Smith said Tuesday that the US, European allies and Russia are all "committed to dialogue" ahead of Wednesday's high-stakes meeting to discuss Russia's military buildup along the Ukrainian border.
"At this juncture, all of the allies are committed to a dialogue with Russia tomorrow. But simultaneously, the allies are all united in messaging to the Russians that such they decide to further invade Ukraine they would face massive consequences from NATO and also from the EU as well," she told CNN's Alex Marquardt in an interview.
On Wednesday, NATO representatives, its 30 member states, and the Russian Federation will meet in Brussels -- the second of three bilateral talks slated for this week.
