Samajwadi Party, the main Opposition in Uttar Pradesh, hit out at the Yogi Adityanath government, saying no one is watching the health services in the state.
"Double engine" government is a term frequently used by BJP leaders in their poll campaigns to refer to the twin advantage of having a BJP government at both the state and the centre level.
The remarks come after Hindustan Times reported that 14 children, who suffer from Thalassemia, tested positive for infections such as Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV during a screening at Kanpur's Lala Lajpat Rai hospital. A senior doctor at the hospital has said this data covered a period of 8-10 years. He also said children suffering from Thalassemia get blood transfusions at multiple health facilities and it is not possible to know when they were infected.
