Established on December 20th, 2019 as the sixth branch of the Department of Defense, the U.S. Space Force is still young.
When it comes to our military, the United States Space Force is still the new branch on the block.
"Most Americans probably don't realize just how important space is to their day-to-day lives," Major General Timothy Sejba said.
Established on December 20th, 2019, as the sixth branch of the Department of Defense, the U.S. Space Force is only four-years-old. But, despite its young age, the branch has quickly become a critical part of U.S. defense efforts — at time when the branch says space has become increasingly "congested, contested and competitive."
"It is so absolutely critical that the Space Force continue to build out the things that we were asked to do, which is really to protect U.S. interests in, through and from space," Sejba said.
Major General Timothy Sejba is the Commander of the Space Training and Readiness Command, or STARCOM. Its purpose is to prepare space force personnel for combat.
