More nations impose restrictions on travel from southern Africa
Britain, Germany and Italy detected cases of the new Omicron coronavirus variant on Saturday, November 27, 2021, even as British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced new steps to contain the virus, while on travel from southern Africa.
The discovery of the variant has sparked global concern, a wave of travel bans or curbs and a sell-off on financial markets on Friday as investors worried that Omicron could stall a global recovery from the nearly two-year pandemic.

The U.S. military intervention has sent shock waves across the globe, with allies and adversaries condemning the U.S. action as a clear violation of international law. Experts suggest that the move was primarily aimed at reimposing the Monroe Doctrine to re-establish U.S. hegemony in the Americas and reducing China’s influence in the region. Venezuela is one of China’s key trade partners in Latin America.
