Tyrone Tracy ‘trending’ toward getting cleared from concussion for Giants’ game vs. Commanders
NY Post
Giants running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. returned to practice Thursday — as a limited participant in a red non-contact jersey — and is “trending in the right direction” to get cleared from concussion protocol before Sunday’s game against the Commanders, head coach Brian Daboll said.
Tracy, who added to his rookie breakout with a 145-yard, one-touchdown performance during the Giants’ loss to the Steelers, exited in the fourth quarter Monday.
That, at the time, made his status for Week 9 unknown and also created a scenario where the offense would need to adjust without one of its most prolific players this season outside of rookie wideout Malik Nabers.
Tracy, a fifth-round pick in April’s draft, has collected 376 rushing yards across four starts and eight appearances — averaging 5.15 yards per carry.
He took over the starting job when Devin Singletary missed a game with an injury, and then kept it even after Singletary returned.
Daboll stopped short of calling Tracy the Giants’ No. 1 running back Thursday, but didn’t hesitate to say the rookie has already carved out a significant role.

Cade Cunningham, almost inarguably the best player in the East this season, is likely out for the remainder of the regular season. That’s the word out of Detroit following the depressing news that Cunningham punctured a lung when he took a knee to his side Tuesday from Washington’s Tre Johnson while chasing a loose ball.

Wednesday was another positive day at Yankees camp. For the first time since March 6, 2025 — an outing in which he knew “something wasn’t right,” which began a weeks-long saga that ended on the operating table for Tommy John surgery — Gerrit Cole was back on a mound and facing hitters in game action.
