After a day of explosive comments from a defense lawyer at the trial of the three men accused of killing Ahmaud Arbery, two new witnesses are expected in court on Friday: The officer who was in touch with the man who owned the home under-construction that has been a focus of the case and a special agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Travis McMichael, Gregory McMichael, and William "Roddie" Bryan Jr. are accused of chasing and killing Arbery, a 25-year-old Black man, on February 23, 2020, near Brunswick, Georgia. Their legal team has argued that they were protecting themselves against Arbery and attempting to make a citizen's arrest.
The officer who interacted with homeowner Larry English Jr. will be the state's 13th witness and he's expected to have video as part of his testimony.
