Two people from the GTA are facing dozens of charges after officers smelled cannabis during a traffic stop in northern Ontario, leading to the discovery of $400,000 in narcotics.
Two people from the GTA are facing dozens of charges after officers smelled cannabis during a traffic stop in northern Ontario, leading to the discovery of $400,000 in narcotics.
The pair was pulled over on Highway 17 in Blind River shortly after 11 a.m. March 12 for an alleged traffic violation, Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release.
"Upon speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, police were able to detect an odour of cannabis, which led to the (arrest) of two people," OPP said.
"A search of the vehicle was conducted and led to the seizure of approximately two kilograms of suspected fentanyl, approximately one kilogram of suspected cocaine and a large quantity of suspected hydromorphone and oxycodone pills."
Officers also found $10,000 in cash, a handgun, ammunition and multiple cellphones.
As a result, the 28-year-old driver from Brampton is charged with 25 different offences including drug and gun-related offences.
