Tragic incident in Tamil Nadu as two drown in well - one driver, one fisherman attempting rescue.
Two persons drowned in a well on Thursday night — one being the driver of a car that plunged into the well, and the other a fisherman who attempted to rescue him.
Sivakumar, a farmer from Mullikkapalayam in Shenbagapudur panchayat, was practising driving in his relative’s car when he lost control of the vehicle. The car veered off course and fell into a 60-foot deep well in front of his house, submerging in the water.
Fire and Rescue Services personnel arrived at the scene and used a crane to retrieve the car. However, Sivakumar was not found inside the vehicle.
Meanwhile, Moorthy, a fisherman from Bhavanisagar, joined the rescue efforts. He dived into the well to search for Sivakumar, but drowned.
Rescue efforts continued throughout the night, and on Friday morning, the bodies of Sivakumar and Moorthy were recovered. The Sathyamangalam police sent the bodies to the Government Hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered, and investigation is under way.
