Two arrested for hunting turtles from Chambal River in Rajasthan's Dholpur

Two hunters were arrested for hunting turtles and fishes in the Chambal River and seven nets and other items were seized from their possession.
A team of National Chambal Gharial Sanctuary in the Dholpur district of Rajasthan arrested two hunters who were hunting turtles and fishes in the Chambal River and seized seven nets and other items from their possession.
The team is interrogating both the arrested poachers.
Ranvir Singh, regional forest officer of the National Chambal Gharial Sanctuary, said that when a team reached the Chambal River, the hunters tried to flee from the spot, but the team chased and caught two of them while the others escaped. The hunting materials were confiscated from their possession.
The accused were identified as Jitendra and Rinku, residents of Sabalgarh, Morena in Madhya Pradesh.
The poachers who escaped were also identified by the team. All these hunters are residents of the Morena district of Madhya Pradesh.
The team is looking for the absconding poachers and concrete action will be taken against them under the Forest Life Act.
