U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday (May 22, 2025) dismissed ethics concerns over his plans to receive a new Air Force One plane as a gift from Qatar.
"It's a great gesture," he said when asked if Qatar would expect anything in exchange. "I would never be one to turn down that kind of an offer. I mean, I could be a stupid person, say 'no we don't want a free, very expensive airplane.'"
President Donald Trump reportedly is ready to accept a luxury Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet as a gift from the ruling family of Qatar during his trip to the Middle East this coming week, and U.S. officials say it could be converted into a potential presidential aircraft.
