Trump-Friendly Rep Sparks Outrage With ‘Pathetic’ Greenland Idea

Florida Republican Randy Fine’s move was slammed as “insane” and “deplorable.”
Rep. Randy Fine (R-Fla.) is facing backlash after announcing plans to introduce legislation that would allow President Donald Trump to take control of Greenland for the United States.
On Monday, the Florida Republican gleefully shared the news on X, formerly Twitter, that he was “proud to introduce the Greenland Annexation and Statehood Act, a bill that allows the President to find the means necessary to bring Greenland into the Union.”
“Let me be clear, our adversaries are trying to establish a foothold in the Arctic, and we can’t let that happen,” Fine added, before echoing Trump’s talking point that acquiring the self-governing territory within the Kingdom of Denmark “would prevent our adversaries from controlling the Arctic Region and secure our northern flank from Russia and China.”
Fine — who has drawn controversy in the past for inflammatory remarks — also shared a striking image depicting Trump superimposed over a Trump-branded skyscraper towering above a Greenlandic village.
Critics were quick to respond, noting that both Greenland and Denmark have repeatedly rejected Trump’s overtures.
