
Triple whammy of snow, ice and sleet in store for parts of the South and Midwest

A massive storm pummeling a large swath of the US has already dumped heavy snow and continues to threaten the parts of the country Thursday with a triple whammy of snow, ice and sleet that could make travel miserable and leave many in the dark.
Heavy snow began falling Tuesday and more than 20 inches had piled up in the Colorado Springs area, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Parts of Illinois were inundated with more than a foot of snow, while Indiana had tallied more than 11 inches.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth risked compromising sensitive military information that could have endangered US troops through his use of Signal to discuss attack plans, a Pentagon watchdog said in an unclassified report released Thursday.
