Transport truck rollover closes westbound Highway 402 near London
CBC
Ontario Provincial Police say westbound Highway 402 is closed near Colonel Talbot Road after a transport truck rollover Wednesday afternoon.
Just before 2 p.m. an eastbound transport truck crossed the highway's grass median, crossed the highway's westbound lanes then rolled over on the ditch of the westbound side.
The driver was treated in hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.
In a video posted to social media, OPP Const. Ed Sanchuk said it's lucky the collision only involved only one vehicle.
The closure is expected to last 15 to 18 hours, well into Thursday morning.
"We're amazed that there were no serious collisions involved in this," said Sanchuk.
The truck was carrying 40,000 litres of fuel but the London Fire Department's hazardous materials team was able to contain the leak," Sanchuk said.
He suggested drivers should avoid the area.
"Make sure you pack an ample supply of patience, this closure is going to last some time," said Sanchuk.
