Investigators believe Woods inadvertently hit the accelerator instead of the brake pedal while speeding around a curve.
Tiger Woods’s accident in February was caused by excessive speed and failure to negotiate a curve due to possible confusion between the accelerator and brake pedals, the Los Angeles County sheriff said at a Wednesday press conference. “The primary cause or factor for this traffic collision was driving at a speed unsafe for the road conditions and inability to negotiate the curve of the roadway,” Sheriff Alex Villanueva said. Villanueva said the Genesis SUV that Woods was driving, which was loaned to him by the sponsors of a golf tournament he had attended, was travelling an estimated 84 to 87 mph (135 to 140 km/h) on a stretch of road that has a speed limit of 45 mph (72 km/h), and there were no signs of impairment for Woods.More Related News
