This custom 1949 Willys Jeep shoots 4-foot exhaust flames
USA TODAY
Rat rods aren't typical custom cars. They owe a lot to the vision of their owners, who might not have big money to spend on a project.
Logan Fryz’s 1949 Willys probably won’t remind you of any jeeps you’ve seen before.
It’s got some olive green paint and an American flag hanging off a rear corner, and it looks like a machine to be reckoned with. That’s without accounting for the inoperable .30-caliber gun mounted on the passenger side.
He’s quick to note that the gun’s a replica, which he begged some nice guy in Ohio to sell him. But the live bullets are “100% ready to go.”
Fryz’s ride was one of the plethora of custom vehicles on the lower level of Huntington Place for this year’s Detroit Autorama, which wrapped up March 1. The lower level was set aside as “Autorama Extreme.”
