CANOPY FORGES AHEAD WITH U.S. POT DEALS
Canopy Growth isn't waiting any longer to get into the action south of the border. The pot producer announced plans to create a new entity – Canopy USA LLC – through which it will buy three companies it had originally intended to acquire only after recreational marijuana is decriminalized at the federal level in the United States. In order to create a buffer of sorts with the legal status of recreational marijuana in the U.S. still on a jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction basis, Canopy USA will have its own managers and Canopy Growth will not have voting rights at the new firm. The move is subject to a shareholder vote.
