Telangana tops national police rankings, DGP urges officers to uphold excellence

Telangana Police ranked first in India Justice Report 2025, emphasizing accountability and dedication for maintaining recognition.

Telangana Police have been ranked first in the country in the India Justice Report 2025, a distinction that has been met with pride and a renewed call for accountability from the State’s top police leadership.

Director General of Police Jitender addressed Station House Officers (SHOs) from across the State during a meeting held at his office on Saturday. Reflecting on his own 33-year journey in the Indian Police Service, he recalled the doubts he encountered when first chose to join the force. Now, he said, he feels a deep sense of pride serving in a department that has earned the highest national ranking.

“Maintaining this recognition requires continuous dedication,” he said, urging SHOs to handle complaints with sensitivity, ensure thorough investigations and always strive to deliver justice. “Any failure in this regard brings disrepute to the entire department,” he cautioned.

Mr. Jitender further encouraged officers to seek honest feedback from their families and peers, to better align their conduct with public expectations and strive to be recognised as exemplary officers.

Additional DGP (Law and Order) Mahesh M. Bhagwat also addressed the meeting, highlighting the importance of accountability within the force. “When mistakes are made at lower levels, it is the senior officers who face the consequences,” he said, calling on SHOs to act with integrity and responsibility.

He reminded the gathering that Telangana Police personnel are among the better-compensated officers in the country and warned against any involvement in corrupt practices.
