Telangana Fire Department hosts public exhibition on fire safety and disaster preparedness with interactive displays and live demonstrations.
As part of the Fire Service Week 2025, the Telangana Fire, Disaster Response, Emergency and Civil Defence department has organised a large-scale public awareness exhibition at HMDA Grounds beside Prasads Imax.
The event was inaugurated by Special Chief Secretary to the Government of Telangana Ravi Gupta who also flagged off a rally of fire and emergency response vehicles.
The exhibition will remain open to the public until the evening of April 20. It aims to educate citizens on fire safety and disaster preparedness through live demonstrations and interactive displays, said Y. Nagi Reddy, Director General of Fire Services, Telangana.
“The initiative encourages the public to visit the stalls and gain first-hand insight into fire prevention and rescue operations,” he said.
The display is organised into four main categories: protective gear, fire fighting equipment, rescue tools and flood rescue apparatus. On-site, a full range of protective gear is available for public viewing, including chemical suits, breathing apparatus sets, goggles, helmets, gloves, SDRF suits and fall arrest harnesses.
“Meanwhile, the flood rescue section features sonar-based underwater scanners, dewatering and floating pumps, inflatable boats, life buoys and life jackets — all essential during monsoon emergencies and urban flooding,” he said.
Throughout the day, visitors observed live demonstrations and interacted with fire officials, gaining insight into how each piece of equipment functions in real-world scenarios. The atmosphere remained focused yet engaging, with personnel explaining procedures and safety tips to families, students and passersby.
