Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said that team India is one where everyone comes together irrespective of their religion, language or community to overcome challenges before the country. Wayanad MP said that the only India that is possible is secular India and slammed the BJP for allegedly dividing the country on religious lines.
Rahul Gandhi was speaking at an event for honouring Santosh Trophy winners and distributing football jerseys to various teams in Malappuram district of Kerala.
"An India divided on religious and linguistic lines is no longer India. An India where people feel humiliated because the state they come from, the religion they belong to, the language they speak is not the true India,"RaGa said.
The Congress MP said,"Just like a football or cricket team, which requires all its players to play as a unit to win, India too is a team whose success is based on all its people, all the religions, all the languages, the states and all the communities here coming together."
"India’s success is based on all our people. India is a union of states, religions, languages and India only exists when every single person who belongs to the country feels comfortable here," Rahul Gandhi said.

In a veiled attack on the BJP, Rahul Gandhi further said, "Imagine what would happen to a football team if you divide them? What would happen if you were going to treat eight players differently and the other three in a different way? Do you think football teams will be able to play ? Do you think that the football team will be successful?", he asked.
