Taxpayers expected to save millions after COVID-era perk for illegal immigrants gets cancelled
Fox News
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is putting aside a program that would end free video calls for illegal immigrants -- and that has been in place since the COVID pandemic.
The public health emergency for the pandemic ended in May 2023, but the program remained in effect even as in-person visitation has resumed with the ending of social distancing requirements. Adam Shaw is a politics reporter for Fox News Digital, primarily covering immigration and border security.

ICE says that while it continued the program until it started winding down throughout June of this year, cost-saving measures have since become a priority due to other resources needed at the southern border.
