Tamil Nadu: ONGC pipeline damaged in Thiruvarur, oil leak contaminates farmland

An ONGC pipeline was damaged in Thiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu because of which crude oil has contaminated one acre of agricultural land. The farmers have demanded that ONGC should fix the leak urgently and pay adequate compensation.
Sivakumar, a farmer from Panaiyur village in Thiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu, was in for a shock on Wednesday morning when he visited his seven-acre agricultural tract. He had already started the first stage of sowing when he found that an ONGC pipeline passing through his field was damaged and crude oil was oozing out onto his fields. He had planned to level the fields and till them with a tractor. But due to the oil leak, he says his hopes of harvesting a good crop this season are now dashed.More Related News
