Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) imposes an administrative one-week closure for Talabat services, a food delivery platform operating in Qatar.
The Ministry stated that the company violated several consumer protection violations.
These include displaying or describing goods with false or misleading information, which may deceive consumers and cause them to spend unfairly. The Ministry also stated that Talabat failed to guarantee services, as another violation.
Talabat users flocked to social media to report issues with the app’s downtime. At the time of publishing this report, at 10:50am local time on Wednesday, the Talabat app has been experiencing slow performance and loading failures.
The decision is in line with the provisions of Article (16) of Law No. (8) of 2008 regarding Consumer Protection and its executive regulations.
