A man has been arrested by Tokyo police after brandishing a knife and starting a fire on a moving train in the Japanese capital on Sunday, the country's public broadcaster NHK reported.
Witnesses say the suspect was wearing a costume depicting the character of the Joker from the Batman franchise.
The man told investigators that he "wanted to kill people and be given a death penalty" and had hoped to kill at least two people, according to the police.

The two men killed as they floated holding onto their capsized boat in a secondary strike against a suspected drug vessel in early September did not appear to have radio or other communications devices, the top military official overseeing the strike told lawmakers on Thursday, according to two sources with direct knowledge of his congressional briefings.
