Ahead of a meeting of the opposition parties to discuss their joint candidate for the upcoming presidential elections on Tuesday, Trinamool Congress leader and former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha has set off a buzz, indicating in a tweet that his party chief Mamata Banerjee could now float his name as a probable nominee for the July elections. I am grateful to Mamataji for the honour and prestige she bestowed on me in the TMC. Now a time has come when for a larger national cause I must step aside from the party to work for greater opposition unity. I am sure she approves of the step.
