Khartoum: The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) announced on Tuesday that it had recaptured key military sites in the city of El Fasher, North Darfur State in western Sudan.
In a statement, the SAF's 6th Infantry Division said its troops had regained full control of the military bases of the Engineer and Signals Battalions and the Command School in El Fasher following intense battles that inflicted "significant losses" on personnel and equipment on RSF forces.
The statement added that several combat vehicles were seized "in good condition" and fully equipped, while six others, including armored vehicles, were destroyed or set ablaze during the operation.
The division also announced that the Sudanese Air Force carried out an airdrop operation over El Fasher on Tuesday, using two aircraft to deliver food supplies and life-saving medicines, the second successful airdrop by the army in less than a week.
Violent clashes have been ongoing in El Fasher since May 2024, between the SAF and allied forces on one side and the RSF on the other, with fighting intensifying in recent days.
