Sudan praises Qatar Charity’s support for health sector

Qatar Charity (QC) said the Sudanese government has expressed its appreciation for QC's support to the health sector of the country with 79 tonnes of intravenous solutions, at a time when the Ministry of Health revealed an acute shortage of medicines. Dr Iman Mukhtar, director of Bilateral and Multilateral Relations at the ministry, said QC’s support with large quantities of intravenous fluids was completely timely, noting that the support would contribute to saving the lives of thousands of patients who had been suffering to obtain these solutions in the past period. Iman said Qatar has always been proactive in doing charity work, thanking the government and people of Qatar as well as QC. "We value the efforts they are making, and we thank them on behalf of the government of Sudan,” said Iman, indicating that these efforts help provide health services, medicines and solutions needed by the Sudanese people. QC has implemented many significant projects in support of the health sector in Sudan to enhance its capabilities to respond to emergencies, a press statement noted. It has established eight comprehensive service complexes for dispensaries and health centres as part of the Darfur initiative. It has also implemented many other projects to combat blindness and endemic diseases, in addition to building new hospitals with large capacities, such as Al-Attiyah Hospital in Khartoum.
