According to police, around 11:10 p.m. Saturday night, officers saw a black Honda Civic with stolen licence plates travelling on Powers Street toward Mountain Avenue.
Police said they began following the car to try and stop it, but the driver sped off, driving in a dangerous manner to evade the officers. They were finally able to contain the car and the driver in the 100 block of Clearwater Road.
When police searched the suspect, they alleged they found 2.5 grams of methamphetamine and around three grams of fentanyl, with a combined street value of more than $600.
No one was injured in the 20-minute chase, police said.
An investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen on Dec. 24 from the first block of McPhillips Street, while the licence plates were reported stolen from a parked car in the first block of Greyfriars Road between Dec. 26 and 27.
Ian Thomas Langridge, 47, has been charged with drug-related offences, as well as the dangerous operation of a vehicle, fleeing while being pursued by a peace officer, and tow counts of possessing property obtained by crime under $5,000.
