STM redesigns bus network for north and west parts of Montreal

Montreal's public transit authority, the STM, is unveiling a major redesign of its bus network.
More than 80 bus routes will change in some way or another across six boroughs and nine municipalities in the north and west parts of the island.
The changes will coincide with the opening of the REM light-rail line to Anse-à-L'Orme, scheduled for this coming spring.
As a result, the STM says about 30,000 more Montrealers will have access to a frequent bus route near their home.
Some routes will change names and numbers while others will be cancelled or replaced by new bus lines.
As part of the changes, there will be eight new bus routes and 13 others will be replaced.
The STM says it's been working on this project since 2018, and it received input from commuters and elected officials in the process.
“When the Metro came in 1967, the redesign wasn’t this large," said Sébastien Gagné, who oversaw the redesign for the STM.
“The main objective is to improve the network for all our customers.”
Transit users can see all the changes and use a new mapping tool to simulate their commute on the STM's website.
