The Société de transport de Montréal and the union representing 800 professional workers have reached a tentative deal after more than a year of negotiations.
The Syndicat des employé(e)s professionnel(le)s et de bureau (SEPB), said on Friday that it had reached a deal with the transit agency at the end of the day on Dec. 31, 2025, marking an immediate end to the overtime strike.
Union members include engineers, architects, analysts and advisors who work in the information technology, planning, infrastructure and finance departments. Since Dec. 17, 2025, members have been refusing to work overtime. The strike was scheduled to last until Jan. 11.
Marc Glogowski, the president of the local chapter of the SEPB, said the contents of the tentative agreement would not be disclosed before consulting union members.
“They will have the final say. We will hold a meeting as soon as possible so that our members can vote on the agreement," Glogowski said.
About 2,400 Société de transport de Montréal maintenance workers have been refusing to work overtime since Dec. 11, 2025.
The STM has now reached agreements with three unions: the professionals’ union, the union representing 4,500 bus drivers and metro operators and the union representing the 1,300 administrative and technical employees.
