Start time of Mets-Braves series finale may be moved up due to hurricane
NY Post
The Mets and Braves are scheduled to play at 7:20 p.m. at Truist Park in Atlanta on Thursday in the last game of the critical series between the NL East rivals, but with a potential hurricane headed to the region Thursday, the time of the game could be switched.
While nothing had been decided as of Monday night regarding the upcoming series, MLB was proactive in a different matchup with playoff implications, announcing Monday that Tuesday’s game between the Tigers and Rays at Comerica Park in Detroit had been changed from a 6:40 p.m. start to 1:10 p.m. because of a poor forecast.
According to a statement from MLB, “The decision was made in an effort to identify the best opportunity to play the game.”
With the playoffs set to begin Oct. 1, just two days after the regular season concludes, and no off days remaining, there is little time to make up games, so the league is more aggressive in changing the schedule.
MLB will consult with weather services in the Atlanta region and discuss possible alternatives with the teams, if necessary.

SAN DIEGO — As you may have seen elsewhere in this newspaper (and also if you haven’t deleted me yet from your social media), I have a book coming out Tuesday called “The Bosses of The Bronx.” Much of it details the 37 years’ worth of antics, winning, losing, winning again and overall mania of George Steinbrenner’s time with the Yankees.

Cade Cunningham, almost inarguably the best player in the East this season, is likely out for the remainder of the regular season. That’s the word out of Detroit following the depressing news that Cunningham punctured a lung when he took a knee to his side Tuesday from Washington’s Tre Johnson while chasing a loose ball.

Wednesday was another positive day at Yankees camp. For the first time since March 6, 2025 — an outing in which he knew “something wasn’t right,” which began a weeks-long saga that ended on the operating table for Tommy John surgery — Gerrit Cole was back on a mound and facing hitters in game action.
