A day after a remand prisoner escaped from the district jail, the Tiruppur City Police formed a special team to track the inmate, M. Surya, 24, of Kovilpatti in Thoothukudi.
A day after a remand prisoner escaped from the district jail, the Tiruppur City Police formed a special team to track the inmate, M. Surya, 24, of Kovilpatti in Thoothukudi.
The inmate, official sources said, was found missing at the time of evening roll call on Saturday (December 21, 2024). Subsequently, the prison authorities lodged a complaint with the Tiruppur North police.
Initial investigations indicated that Surya, who was arrested and remanded in a case of chain-snatching in Nallur limits last month, had escaped in the duration of a power outage, when the CCTV cameras got switched off.

Currently, only the services in the 32 series stop at the section of the road adjacent to the Broadway terminus, temporarily closed on account of reconstruction work.
