Sonali Bendre reveals she was left with 23-inch scar after her cancer surgery

In a recent interview, Sonali Bendre talked about her journey of beating cancer. The actress revealed she was left with a 23-inch long scar after her cancer surgery.

Sonali Bendre is an actress who braved cancer in 2018 and often inspires many with her positive attitude and strength. Recently, the actress opened up about her struggles in fighting the disease and revealed she was left with a 23-inch scar after her cancer surgery. She also described the two eras of her life, “BC and AC (before cancer and after cancer),” as difficult phases of her life.

Sonali Bendre never fails to inspire us with her positive attitude. The actress, who is a cancer survivor, recently talked about her journey of fighting cancer and shared how it changed her life. “What Goldie and I say is BC and AC, which is before cancer and after cancer. You go through something and you learn some lessons. And, if you have not learnt them, then it’s really sad. I think there were a couple of lessons from it (the cancer diagnosis). The point is reminding each other that it’s not the goal, but the process and the journey that’s important,” said Sonali during a chat with Mashable India.

Sonali also struggled with her changing appearance post the cancer diagnosis, but, she is grateful to be a survivor too. Describing one of the most difficult phases of her life, the actress said she was left with a 23-24 inch scar. “The first thing that my doctors were telling me is that we want you out of the hospital as fast as possible,” she said. The actress elaborated that the doctors wanted her out of the hospital because they were concerned about her catching an infection. “Post-surgery, my surgeon was like, I want you walking in 24 hours. In 24 hours, I was holding my IV and walking in the corridor. It was hard because I had a cut which is 23-24 inches,” added Sonali.

At India Today Group's E-Conclave Corona Series held last year, Sonali opened up about being diagnosed with cancer. She also talked about fighting the disease. She said, “I think we have to just adapt. We are in the age where information is available at our fingertips. I would just say that I didn't want any negativity or speculation about it. Also because my son was twelve at that point of time, kids today would be getting the messages from the internet. I didn't want something negative to reach to him. What was happening was strange and scary enough, I didn't want to add to that. I didn't want my family members getting some strange WhatsApp messages and being frightened about it. So the idea was to put out what is happening by yourself so that there is no speculation around it.”

Sonali Bendre is married to Goldie Behl. The couple has a 15-year-old son whose name is Ranveer Behl.
