SNOLAB in Sudbury has taken to social media to apologize after a staffer made a disturbing comment about Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on X.
Ian Winsor, whose X account is no longer active, made the comment under Trudeau’s Halloween post that featured a photo of his children’s costume – including a ‘headless’ ghoul.
Former Tory MP Lisa MacLeod commented under the post she thought that the “beheaded children’s costume” was inappropriate, considering the violence in the Middle East.
At that point, Winsor posted a comment that read, “I wish someone would behead his dad.”
Jodi Cooley, the facility’s executive director, said in a post that “all of these comments are unacceptable.”
“I want to make it clear that SNOLAB does not condone these comments, does not condone violence of any kind, and does not and never has taken positions on matters of politics,” Cooley said.
“SNOLAB has clear policies and guidelines on social media use, and these comments are in clear violation of those policies. SNOLAB has taken the necessary steps to address this issue in accordance with our policies.”
