SIT grills Rajampet MP Midhun Reddy for eight hours in Andhra Pradesh liquor scandal. Terming the case as nothing but political harassment, the YSRCP leader says not one of the several cases filed against him has been proved. Another suspect in the case Kasireddy Rajashekar says he will expose former Rajya Sabha member V. Vijaya Sai Reddy.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) here on Saturday questioned YSRCP leader and Rajampet Member of Parliament P.V. Midhun Reddy in the multi-crore liquor scandal that had allegedly taken place during the YSRCP government’s term.
Mr. Midhun Reddy appeared before the investigation officers along with his lawyers, in whose presence he was questioned for about eight hours. The SIT is likely to summon him again for questioning.
The officers reportedly questioned Mr. Midhun Reddy about his links with the other accused in the scandal, launching of new liquor brands, persons who attended the meetings for framing the liquor policy, loans borrowed and their utilisation, cash transactions at liquor outlets, and other issues.
The SIT officers were said to have grilled Mr. Midhun Reddy based on the information provided during questioning on Friday by former Rajya Sabha member and former YSRCP leader V. Vijaya Sai Reddy.
Later, addressing the media, Mr. Midhun Reddy termed it as a false case, and nothing but political harassment.
“Except drugs and human trafficking, all cases such as illegal mining and sand smuggling have been levelled against me. Not one case has been proved. I will face the liquor case,” Mr. Midhun Reddy said.
“As the case is in court, I cannot talk much on the liquor scam. I am not in panic about false cases,” he reiterated.
