Shimron Hetmyer can take West Indies cricket forward from a generational point of view: Kieron Pollard

West Indies ODI and T20I captain Kieron Pollard has said that batsman Shimron Hetmyer is the player who could drive the team forward in the future. Pollard said that Hetmyer can bring a change from the "generational point of view".

Kieron Pollard has said that Shimron Hetmyer is the player who can take West Indies cricket forward "from a generational point of view". Pollard, currently the captain of West Indies in ODI and T20I formats, has said that he would love to see the 24-year-old play in all three formats of the game. The southpaw last played a Test match in November 2019. He could not make into the West Indies squad for the recent home series against Sri Lanka after failing to clear the mandatory fitness test. Hetmyer last featured in an ODI match in January 2020. “We love Hetty. He is a young, talented cricketer. He is a guy who we know, deep in our hearts, can take West Indies cricket forward from a generational point of view with his skill and what he can achieve on a cricket field,” said Kieron Pollard.
