Shashi Tharoor shares pic with women MPs, says Lok Sabha attractive place to work. Internet blasts him
India Today
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor shared a selfie with women MPs on Twitter and that has caused quite a pandemonium on social media. The internet said that his now-viral post was rather "disrespectful."
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor was trolled on social media on Monday after he posted a picture with women MPs and said that the Lok Sabha is an “attractive place” to work. In his post that has now gone viral, Tharoor posed in a selfie with Baramati MP Supriya Sule, Patiala MP Preneet Kaur, South Chennai MP Thamizhachi Thangapandian, Jadavpur MP Mimi Chakraborty, Basirhat MP Nushrat Jahan, Karur MP S Jothimani. Who says the Lok Sabha isn’t an attractive place to work? With six of my fellow MPs this morning: @supriya_sule @preneet_kaur @ThamizhachiTh @mimichakraborty @nusratchirps @JothimaniMP pic.twitter.com/JNFRC2QIq1 How does this doesn't fit in the feminism's definition of objectification of women? Not appropriate bro Attractive or inclusive? “Attractive” Ewww you would be sacked in any other sector for using that word to refer to your female colleagues. Meme banao koi What do u want to convey by posting a pic with 6 female MPs and calling Loksabha an 'attractive ' place to work because of their presence ?What ' attractions ' do u want to work for the ppl who voted for you ?If u find it unattractive without female colleagues leave politics With all due respect, this is a creepy statement to make. The whole selfie thing was done (at the women MPs' initiative) in great good humour & it was they who asked me to tweet it in the same spirit. I am sorry some people are offended but i was happy to be roped in to this show of workplace camaraderie. That's all this is. https://t.co/MfpcilPmSB
The post, which was shared as the Winter Session of the Parliament commenced today, hasn’t impressed social media users at all. The internet wasn’t in favour of the words that Tharoor used in the caption of his post and thought it was “disrespectful” in fact.
