Sensex, Nifty flat as RIL, other heavyweight stocks fall

Benchmark market indices Sensex and Nifty are flat as stocks of Reliance Industries Limited and other heavyweight companies fell in the morning.

Indian shares edged higher on Friday as gains in heavyweight financial stocks outweighed losses in Reliance Industries, which fell a day after its annual general meeting. The blue-chip NSE Nifty 50 index rose 0.19% to 15,820 and the benchmark S&P BSE Sensex gained 0.14% to 52,771.59 by 9:29 am.
