Senate Republicans appear poised to block bill to create January 6 commission
CBSN
Senate Republicans appeared set early Friday to block the House-passed bill creating a commission to investigate the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. It would be the first filibuster of the Biden presidency. It's a tool often used by the minority party to block legislation.
But before turning to the commission legislation, the Senate was trying to finish up work on the bipartisan Science, Technology and Research bill. That hit some unexpected hurdles, pushing back consideration of the commission measure. The Senate adjourned at about 3 a.m. until 9 a.m., when it is slated to resume debate on the science bill before, presumably, pushing on to take up the commission bill.More Related News
