Senate clears major procedural motion on infrastructure bill with final vote likely Tuesday

The Senate on Sunday night voted to move forward with a procedural motion on the $1 trillion infrastructure bill, a key part of President Biden's domestic agenda. The Senate voted 68 to 29 to end debate on the final infrastructure product, and the final vote could happen as late as Tuesday morning unless the opponents yield back some of their time. 

But one of the Republicans in the group who had negotiated the bill voted no Sunday on one of the roll call votes, and he said he intended to vote against the final bill. Senator Todd Young of Indiana, a former National Republican Senate Committee chair, issued a statement Sunday night saying that he is "not yet comfortable with the current pay-fors in this legislation nor am I comfortable with Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi's continued insistence on tying passage of this bill to the Democrats' $3.5 trillion reckless tax-and-spend budget proposal."
