Security officials prepare to evacuate Afghan allies as US troops withdraw
Fox News
Top U.S. officials are scrambling to assist thousands of Afghan allies and translators through evacuations with President Biden pledging U.S. support Thursday.
The Biden administration began the official removal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan early last month, postponing the original exodus date of May 1 – agreed to under the Trump administration – to Sept. 11, 2021. A contingent of 650 troops are expected to remain behind to serve as security for U.S. diplomats after the withdrawal is complete, a U.S. defense official told Fox News Thursday.More Related News
