SD College faculty member wins best college teacher award

G. Nagendra Prabhu, associate professor of Zoology and principal investigator, Centre for Research on Aquatic Resources of Sanatana Dharma (SD) College, Alappuzha, has bagged the Fr. Dr. Jose Thekkan Best College Teacher in Kerala award instituted by Christ College, Irinjalakuda, Thrissur.
The award, comprising a memento, certificate and a purse of ₹50,000, was presented to him by Fr. Thomas Chathamparambil, former Vice Chancellor, Christ Deemed University, Bengaluru, recently.
Prof. Prabhu was chosen for the award for his contributions to teaching, international research collaborations, extension activities and committed services to the academic community during the challenging period of COVID-19.
He was selected for the award by a jury comprising K. Radhakrishnan, former Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation, poet and critic K. Satchidanandan, T. K. Narayanan, vice chancellor, Kerala Kalamandalam, M. Usman, former president of Kerala Principal's Council, and Fr. Francis Kurissery, vice provincial, Thrissur.

Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP) has been chosen, along with IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Hyderabad, and IISc. Bengaluru, to establish centres of excellence (CoE) by the Wadhwani Foundation in Bioengineering and Biotechnology with a funding support of $1 million annually.
