Saplings planted as part of World Environment Day celebrations

Collector S. Saravanan promotes environmental sustainability by planting saplings and encouraging farmers to cultivate medicinal plants.
Collector S. Saravanan on Friday planted saplings on the foothills of Kannivadi in Dindigul district, as part of the NABARD Watershed Project.
The Collector inspected the project. He advised the project staff to plant saplings that will benefit the farmers in the long term. He also advised the farmers to cultivate medicinal plants.
As part of the World Environment Day celebrations, the Ayyampalayam Farmers Producers Organisation organised various events. The Collector presided over the event.
The Collector released pamphlets on the theme ‘A Plastic - Free Earth’ and planted saplings to create awareness of a ‘Plastic - Free Earth’.
The Collector also inaugurated the sale of new food products of Ayyampalayam Farmers Producers Organisations. NABARD officials were also present at the event.
