Need to improve awareness on those suffering from autism stressed
To focus on inclusive education and promote learning opportunities, Sankalp The Learning Centre and Special Needs School celebrated World Autism Awareness Day by organising “Milan”, a programme to improve awareness on the condition of those suffering from autism.
Students from different institutions like Vedanta Academy, Adi Dravidar Higher Secondary School and Sri Chaitanya Techno School were engaged in activities with special needs children in classroom and playground, according to a press release.
Johny Tom Varghese, State Commissioner for the Welfare of Differently-abled, Tamil Nadu, said: “The World Bank is to provide large funding to the State focusing on providing free therapy and rehabilitation for the elderly and disabled and would support the initiatives by providing insurance.”
Musician Bombay Jayashri Ramnath noted that music acted as a great therapy for children with autism and rendered a few songs as well.
