
Salman Rushdie attacker says he's 'surprised' author survived

Hadi Matar, the 24-year-old who attacked author Salman Rushdie last week, admitted during an interview from prison that he intended to kill the writer and is surprised he lived.

Matar went on to admit he had not actually read Rushdie's book at the source of the controversy, "The Satanic Verses."
"I read a couple pages. I didn’t read the whole thing cover to cover," he said.
