Russia has registered its highest number of COVID-19 deaths for a single day since early February as a dramatic rise in infections fuelled by the Delta variant grips the country. The 546 deaths recorded on Tuesday mean Russia’s official coronavirus death toll now stands at 130,347 people, according to the country’s coronavirus emergency task force, marking the world’s sixth-highest tally overall.
