A top Russian defense official said Tuesday that more than 335,000 people have entered the country’s military service and volunteer units this year.
"Since the start of the year, more than 335,000 people have entered military service under contract and in volunteer formations," Shoigu reportedly added. "In September alone, more than 50,000 citizens signed contracts." Greg Norman is a reporter at Fox News Digital.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had ordered a partial mobilization of 300,000 military reservists last September, but the move prompted young Russians to flee the country to avoid being sent to the front lines, according to Reuters.
