Russell Wilson’s ‘infectious’ passion already on display during his Giants honeymoon

And on the first day … Russell Wilson was energized.
And, more importantly, he is already off and running, as far as injecting that energy coursing through his veins into another new set of teammates.
It remains to be seen how much he has left in his physical tank and if he can reverse the downward trend his NFL career has taken, but there is no denying that Wilson’s personality is a force unto itself and that the Giants will see, hear and feel the difference now that he is their starting quarterback.
“From the very first interaction with him, you could tell the guy knows a lot of ball, and the biggest takeaway for me was just his passion,’’ second-year tight end Theo Johnson said Monday, as players arrived at the team facility for the start of the offseason workout program. “He loves football and every aspect of the game, which is infectious and something that he’s going to infect in our locker room just his love and his passion for the game.’’

Cade Cunningham, almost inarguably the best player in the East this season, is likely out for the remainder of the regular season. That’s the word out of Detroit following the depressing news that Cunningham punctured a lung when he took a knee to his side Tuesday from Washington’s Tre Johnson while chasing a loose ball.

Wednesday was another positive day at Yankees camp. For the first time since March 6, 2025 — an outing in which he knew “something wasn’t right,” which began a weeks-long saga that ended on the operating table for Tommy John surgery — Gerrit Cole was back on a mound and facing hitters in game action.
