With the ruling coalition calling a Bandh on Monday, everything in Maharashtra will be shut with the sole exception of essential services.
The ruling coalition in Maharashtra has issued a call for a state-wide bandh on Monday to protest against the killing of farmers in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri last week. Four others, including BJP workers and a journalist, were also killed in violence triggered by the deaths of farmers who were run over by cars, allegedly ferrying BJP workers. The bandh, which starts at midnight, has been called by the three ruling allies of the state - Shiv Sena, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Congress, who have appealed to the people to support the shutdown.
