Rollover crash snarls traffic on Malahat Highway

First responders are at the scene of a single-vehicle crash on the Malahat Highway Friday afternoon, according to the Malahat Volunteer Fire Department.

A DriveBC highway camera shows a white vehicle on its side on the southbound lanes of the highway near Shawinigan Lake Road.

According to DriveBC, the crash occurred about four kilometres south of the Malahat Summit.

Heavy congestion is to be expected, according to DriveBC.

Southbound vehicles are being detoured through South Shawnigan Lake Road. While the detour is in place, northbound vehicles will not be able to make a left turn onto South Shawnigan Lake Road.
