Roger Federer defeats Dan Evans as he returns from 13-month injury absence

Roger Federer marked his return to tennis with a closely-fought 7-6 3-6 7-5 victory over Dan Evans at the Qatar Open.
Playing in his first game for more than 13 months having undergone two knee surgeries last year, 39-year-old Federer won a tense first-set tiebreak 10-8 before being broken by world No. 28 Evans near the start of the second set. Evans closed out the second set -- the first time he has taken a set off Federer in four meetings -- but the Swiss star was able to edge out the decider with his first break of the match at 6-5.More Related News
